What do you believe about homosexuality and transgenders?
This is very good question. For a long time there has been a lot of confusion among the public about where the Church (as a whole) stands with regard to sexuality and marriage. The response spectrum has been very broad and inconsistent. Some churches and leaders have openly embraced homosexuality, and others have taken a strong stand against it. Some have been very loving; others hateful and excluding. Some allow homosexuality, yet renounce transgenders. Others include both, yet only exclude them in leadership. Some denominations have changed their constitutions more than once, leading to splits among believers who sincerely long to follow God. As one can see, this lack of cohesion and inconsistency has resulted in mass confusion that does a severe disservice to the public as well as those who consider themselves devoted Christians. This has a been a very sad and serious problem both within and without Christian circles. There had to be a way to bring clarity on biblical principles for the masses, but someone had to be a forerunner in that effort.
In an attempt to alleviate the growing confusion and draw clear biblical precedents, The Nashville Statement was finally conceived on August 25, 2017 by The Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood: A Coalition for Biblical Sexuality.
Appointed Time Press, LLC has officially adopted and signed The Nashville Statement, which was drafted in Nashville, Tennessee by inter-denominational Evangelical Church leaders.
The Nashville Statement contains 14 articles which set very clear cohesive biblical precedents on where the Church stands regarding marriage, gender, and sex. Since its inception tens of thousands of signatories, laymen and clergy alike, have signed The Nashville Statement. We are only one among many who have adopted this statement within their constitutional by-laws.
The Nashville Statement is a public document which serves to answer your proposed question. It speaks very well for itself in simple terms anyone can comprehend, being free of biblical jargon. However, the writers have included scriptural references at the close of the document should you desire them. You are welcome to read the full statement (and download the document) at the link above. We trust this statement will fully answer any questions the public may have regarding where we stand on these issues as a Christian organization.
