REPENTANCE
Repentance is a beautiful gift from the LORD that establishes the authority of the sinner over sin. Because of Christ’s sacrifice we are now able to choose righteousness. Sin no longer has power over us, and by His grace we are enabled to live a holy life that bears the peaceful fruit of righteousness. Repentance is mandatory for all believers. It is not optional. Repentance fills the Gospel from cover to cover — from John the Baptist in Matthew to Christ’s seven letters in Revelation. It is a central theme. However, repentance is often very misunderstood. It’s not a shot-in-the-arm or a trip to the altar. Repentance is a lifestyle and process which allows the sanctification of the Holy Spirit to take place in the life of a believer, transforming us into Christ’s image.
